‘I.O.U.S.A.’ Added to Schedule

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

With America on the brink of a financial meltdown, families losing their homes to foreclosure, and Washington crafting rescue plans for the country’s leading financial institutions, this film could not be timelier.

Screening on Monday, Oct. 13 at 6:45 pm, I.O.U.S.A. boldly examines the rapidly growing national debt and its consequences for the U.S. and its citizens. Burdened with an ever-expanding government and military, increased international competition, overextended entitlement programs, and debts to foreign countries that are becoming impossible to honor, America must mend its spendthrift ways or face an economic disaster of epic proportions.

Sundance veteran Patrick Creadon (WORDPLAY) helps demystify the nation’s financial practices and policies by interweaving archival footage with economic data and candid interviews with Warren Buffett, Alan Greenspan, Paul O’Neill, Robert Rubin, and others, to paint a vivid and alarming profile of America’s current economic situation.
